A customer cancels in the morning. Another asks you to push to Thursday. Someone else wants their back gate left open today. By mid-afternoon your crew is driving back and forth across town, and the special request doesn't get noticed until the last stop, or at all. How do you keep a good day order when the schedule keeps changing?
Start the day with stops in an order that cuts the driving. Group properties that sit near each other, then work outward. Fit what you already promised around that: the customer who needs you before noon, the neighborhood that's calmer before school traffic, the stop with a dog that's only out later.
The rule is simple. Stops that are close on the map should stay close on the list.
One cancel and one special request, and your crew is zigzagging across town by lunch.
A cancel or a postponement means pull that one job and leave the rest alone. Rebuilding the whole day every time something changes is how a crew that knew the route ends up zigzagging, and how a note for one property gets missed until they're already at the curb.
A one-time special follows the same rule. Put it next to the stops it sits near. If it's across town from everything else on that day's list, put it at the end so it doesn't split a tight cluster in the middle. Don't dump every special at the end by habit, and don't shove it into a nearby group it doesn't belong with.
A special request only helps if the crew sees it before they pull up. Keep gate codes, dog warnings, and "leave the back gate open" with the property, not in a text to one person. When you move a stop, the notes move with it, whether you track them in a binder, a shared list, or an app.
Run My Lawn Biz puts the day's jobs in an order that keeps the driving down with one button. Any job where you promised a customer a time stays near that time. If you'd run the day differently, drag a job where you want it, and your order is the one that sticks. Gate codes and property notes stay with each stop, and assigned jobs let your crew know where they're headed.
Cancels and special requests are part of the job. Keep nearby stops together, change only what changed, and your crew can handle the rest without losing the day.
